| Would you do a close-proximity indoor activity with a family member who came down with the flu 10 days ago and is all better aside from a mild sniffle and occasional cough? I really don't want us to be sick with flu going into the holidays, but it seems like they're probably not still contagious after 10 days right? |
| Ten days and symptoms are almost gone? I think that’s totally fine. |
|
Yes I would.
Odds are high you've been exposed to the same germs in other settings. Unless you are isolating from the entire world it doesn't make sense to not see this person. |
| 10 days ago, yes? Sniffles can last weeks! Especially in dry, cold air. |
| Are people getting the flu vaccine? |
| Yes and for the future: if you are caring for a flu positive person you can often get a prophylactic dose of Tamiflu to reduce your chances of catching it. |
| Just had flu in my household. Guidance we followed for school was fever-free for 24 hr + feeling well enough to go. Cough lingered mildly for another week. |
| 10 days is more than enough especially considering flu is often like covid these days- you only know you have it if you test for it. And a lot of times it can mimic just any run of the mill illness (not saying it isn't dangerous - just that it has a wide range of symptoms and we are all probably exposed a lot more than we realize). |
Yes, but it doesn’t cover EVERY mutation |
No |
|
A friend did this and got a whole party sick. It’s two weeks after symptoms fade.
That’s obviously unrealistic, but that’s the science. |
| I would see them in that scenario. Benefits obviously weigh the possible (and more remote) downsides to me. |
I was wondering if they got the right mutation this year. |
Wild! Our pediatrician said child can return to school once fever free for 24 hours. |
If we learned nothing else from the shitshow of 2020… masking is always an option. And wash hands! |
