It's just the four of us and I don't feel like making two "special" meals. We're swamped with a bunch of other things, and DH will be on work travel until the 23rd, so I'll be dealing with a ton of other stuff solo.
If you were going out, which day would you pick? Any recommendations on where to go in DC or MD? I don't really follow restaurants anymore. Kids are 11 and 7 and of medium adaptability. Seafood and steak are big hits. |
Four seasons Christmas Day brunch. Everyone can get what they want. |
| Christmas Eve |
| Just know places will be PACKED. So see if you can even get a reservation, like today. |
| When do you attend church? If Christmas Eve, maybe go on Christmas Day. Or vice versa? |
Never. |
| We don't have extended family in the area, so we've done a lot of "just us 4" Christmases. What works for us is to go out on Christmas Eve to some place fun and casual -- e.g., Cactus Cantina. On Christmas Day we make brunch with make-ahead French toast. Some years we'll cook an easy dinner -- e.g., ham sandwiches on biscuits with soup and a salad; other years we order really good Chinese food and invite friends for a game night. |

I like going out on Christmas Eve. Festive,,anticipation builds.
On the Day it is a letdown. |
|
Agree. Christmas eve will be more festive.
Pastis, Occidental, or Minetta Tavern? All expensive but fun destinations. |
| My kids think fondue places and hibachi places are fun. |
| Christmas Eve at Mon Ami Gabi. |

I’d go on Christmas Day.
We always go to our favorite Indian restaurant. It’s packed. One teen, DH, me, and - when we have them - out of town guests. Christmas Eve is very lazy, frozen pizzas and a huge salad kind of evening. |
Never. Ime stuff is dead in Christmas Eve and packed on Christmas. Get a good reservation asap. |
We always get Indian food on Christmas Eve. Not a lot of places are open on Christmas Day. |
| We are going to the four seasons Christmas Eve, but just a heads up it’s been booked for weeks. |
