I need to consult an attorney about preparing a postnuptial agreement that is rock solid and there is no chance will be invalidated. I’m looking for someone in MoCo and also DC.
Also, if you used a postnuptial agreement, I’d live to hear any thoughts you have about the experience and whether it protected you and your interests. Any lessons learned are also welcome. Thanks to all for any insight. |
| Hardest part is getting someone to sign it. |

There are no guarantees with anything
I wrote out a business plan for post nups I could not make money in the first few years The way I would do it is time intensive First start with an inventory . Most anyone can DIY this. You have real property; personal property; cash; investments; retirement accounts. Not hard. |

Same poster as above. Kids get trickier-
and estimating support for a child thr the government websites… it’s doable but the numbers are a bit low ball, I think. I think a partial agreement is better than no agreement. Any two parties can contract! |
No one is going to sign a postnup that waives any rights they now have unless you have leverage on them. Why would they? |
|
For prenups it’s is recommended to update it and perform review every 3-5 years as partner and as parents.
Are you going to do they eith a lawyer each time? Every three years? Lawyers muck things up and adds a layer of formality and tension and blah blah blah that you don’t have to go through. Business people makes deals all of the time ——without lawyers. Sometimes even they sleep with each other. |
You are saying two mature adults cannot make a list of assets and then divide them? I beg to differ. |
sure, trust probate too! |
| Oh just get a divorce already |
| You don’t need a will. Just die already! |
