Getting a procedure done this week and dentist was not familiar with alpha gal. I’ve read the numbing gel before Novocain is a no no. Anything else to keep in mind?
I’m most reactive to beef if that matters. Also it’s a scary thing being the one to educate your provider. I like my dentist but if you know an alpha gal or allergen savvy dentist I’d be open to the referral. I’m in Arlington and don’t mind driving. |

No answers, but I am following this because my daughter has MCAS and food allergies.

| Checking in to see if anyone had tips? |
| Definitely loop in your allergist. |
| I recommend Dr Stuart Ross downtown DC but call and ask if he’s familiar with alpha gal. I would think yes, but best to ask. He’s very up on the latest, despite being very experienced. |

Thank you. My allergist didn’t seem concerned. The dentist didn’t seem concerned. I have a few hours to figure out if I should have been more concerned. Fingers crossed!
Thank you for the referral |
| How did it go? |
| Went OK! I had a cleaning and then a cavity filled that was shallow so they used the numbing gel which was the main thing I was worried about based on Internet searches. I would not trust my experience to be the litmus test, but I was pleasantly surprised. No reactions. |
| Oh I had no idea this was an issue. One of my cousins was just diagnosed. I'll make sure she knows. |
Where did you end up going? |

| One of my kids was just diagnosed w/ AGS. Not to hijack this thread, but I am looking for an allergist or pediatrician who is familiar with it. I was disappointed to hear our ped tell my son dairy is fine when that’s his biggest reaction. |
