What is the recommendation? Bamboo? Maple? Do you really oil it monthly? Filling a Christmas gift request for DC.

I have a set of plastic cutting boards (Gorilla Grip). They have one flat side and the other is grooved. I run them through the dishwasher after use.

Probably best to avoid microplastics in food.

Not too concerned about that.

Omg, I’ve been using the same plastic cutting boards for years, and just googled it - considered to be hazardous by all accounts. I’m such an idiot. I’ve probably poisoned my family. Just dumped them both in the trash. I’m careful about plastics in general, but didn’t realize the cutting boards were the worst. I honestly don’t know how I could’ve been so ignorant. 😭

They say to trash them even they get marked up. And to replace them every three years, even if they are still in good shape.

I purchased the stainless steel on over the weekend. Haven't used it yet though.

Wouldn't stainless steel boards be terrible for your knives?

Yes. They are hard(er) on knives.

I use wood. Because while I don't mind the whetstone routine, I don't need to make it a more regular occurrence.
