We have had a difficult time pulling a permit for a very minor repair for our DC row house...the documentation required is stunning and in the latest round of requests would require us to hire an engineer for a repair that at best would cost $3-4,000, doesn't impact any other property or the street, and is not structural to the home. it is at the point where we are considering abandoning the project, narrowing the scope of the repair (even though it won't look good that way). Does anyone have any advice or thoughts on how to proceed here?
