| I know results are coming out mid-Dec'ish, but you think decisions are already made, like by today? |
| I know an athlete who has an offer to an Ivy. |
| I doubt they make all the decisions on the same day. They’ve probably decided a lot of the easy cases (probably including that athlete somebody knows), but are still sorting out the closer cases. |
| I think 95% acceptance are filled. The remaining 5% will be finalized next week. |
|
The process is that some percentage (50%-75%?) of applications are read by the contracted reviewers and regional reps and rejected off the top. Then the rest are sent to committee and actually discussed.
I assume the first cuts have been made and now they're starting the committee process. |

Probably not, but I'm pretty sure the 1–5 ratings (or whatever system used) have been assigned to each app and special comments, if any, have been added. In addition, I think apps have gone into the "sure accept" (e.g., recruited athletes, big donors, questbridge), "sure reject" (e.g., SAT 1200 or below, GPA 3.0 or below, and "let's take another look" piles. With 2 more weeks or so to go, I suspect they are looking more closely at the third pile and decide whether to accept/defer/reject with an eye on meeting institutional priority as best they can without having seen any RD app.
I'm telling my kid who has ED'ed to a t15 to focus on RD essays now to avoid the feeling of rejection in mid December to consume him. |
| Quest bridge matching for Ivies was announced on Tuesday so those are definitely finalized. Reruited athletes signed their commitment letters in the last the last few weeks as well. |
| Yes - just read about the timing. |
| I bet they are trying to fill their last few hundred slots |
|
they're "shaping" now.
and making sure they're not creating problems for themselves at certain feeders - ie, accepting a lower stats/accomplishment applicant over a higher one. That's usually a donor. If it is, they may go back and take the higher rated one just to make it look less bad. they may review about 35 high schools for this. |
Legacy? |
Yes and they should tell kids tomorrow .
|
How do you know this? |
| Brown is unique in that IDOC requests are a "tell" of admission for people requesting financial aid. (This is not true at most schools, but it's unique to Brown.) Of my son's friend group there, kids (not legacy, questbridge, or athletes) got the request as quickly as two weeks after app was turned in and as late as days before decisions released. So it is rolling. |
| Yes, they are already made or being finalized. Dartmouth sent an email stating that the decisions are being finalized. |
