| I've seen both |
| According to the National Association of Hooked Determination (NAHD), that, in and of itself, is not a hook. |
| No full pay is not a hook. If it was, would not matter whether Hugh schools, was private or public. |
Thank you, we needed some experts to weigh in! |
I tried to get a job there but apparently they only take legacies. |
| Not a hook for T20 but it can def help past that. |
Damn you two need to take this on the road. |
| Not hooked. But they are certainly in a different lane |
| Cha-ching |
| Depends on parents’ profession and how much wealth oozes from app (polo/sailing/ equestrian awards are evidence of a different $$$ stratosphere and can help signal development case). |
+1 There's something called "development admit" preference in many universities (even elite ones) where family donor potential can give an admissions preference. But just plain being able to afford the tuition isn't as much of a benefit in T20 schools.....as you move down the rankings, being able to pay becomes a bigger benefit. |

No, it's not hooked. There are a gazillion top kids at top privates who don't get into their reach schools or all but one reach school.
My son had close to a 1600, 3.9 (top 10%), full pay from a Sidwell level school and was rejected outright at a half dozen top20 schools. Admitted to a few but it was far from a guarantee. friends had the same results. |
I work for the Association of Associations of Hooked Determinations. We are hiring! |
+1 It's the line between need-blind and need-aware schools. |
