Do electives teachers or classroom teachers get annoyed by gift cards?

Anonymous
Each class has 24 kids. The school suggests just donating to the pool, which is split among all teachers and staff. I plan to give a small amount to the fund, but want to give to the classroom teacher (who is great), Art teacher (who is great and also teaches Art Club), and Spanish (who seems to always get overlooked).

Is it annoying to an elective teacher if I give a $20 card to the local coffee shop? I'm thinking if the Art teacher teaches, let's say 400 kids and even a quarter of them give gifts, it could get too annoying? I was also thinking of giving $50 Target gift card to the classroom teacher, but she is older (60s). Does everyone shop at Target?

As a teacher we LOVE gift cards. Please do that instead of a candle or something similar. We are underpaid and always need things, whether it be coffee or school supplies!

As an elective teacher/Specials teacher - we get MAYBE 4 gift cards a year at the holidays. (And I teach 400 kids) And maybe one at the end of the year. Thank you so much for remembering us!

what about cash over gift cards?

I gave cards to the reading specialists last year and they were very surprised (and appreciative). I think they often get overlooked around the holidays.

I also am a specials teacher and have 400 students and get maybe 5 gifts. I am very appreciative of anyone who thinks about me and gives me any kind of gift. I always write thank you notes. I save my coffee gift cards for professional development days and road trips.

My friend who is married to an art teacher loves when he gets Starbucks cards he won't use.

Thank you for this reminder to appreciate our specials teachers. My son loves our gym teacher and is by far the happiest on days they have gym and I can believe he gets very little by way of appreciation.
