My 12 year old DD was definitely a kid at 10 in the way she acted and her interests but my 9 almost 10 year old DD seems a little more grown up then my 12 year old DD was at the same age but that is probably she is the oldest.
I think age ten is still a child, but it seems like this age is mostly seen as a tween. So, what's the general consensus on DCUM? |
| Child, I don't like the term tween really. Seems like ppl are just trying to age kids faster. |

That we should stop categorizing and labeling when there is no urgent need to do so.
My 15 year old sometimes behaves like a small child, which is normal. And sometimes she behaves like a cynical jaded retiree, which is also normal. My other kid, now adult, did the same. They're all children until they're adults, and when they're young adults they still have lots of growing up to do. |

Tween is a subset of child. So are teens, infants, toddlers, and preschoolers.
If you're asking if you should post in the teens/tweens forum for a 10 year old, I'd say it depends. I feel like that's the right place for issues that relate to growing up. So, I'd post these kinds of topics there: Preparing for middle school Puberty, or things like weight gain before puberty Activity shifts that happen when kids start to have stronger preferences What do you get a kid for Christmas, or dress a kid in, once they start seeing certain things as babyish. Otherwise, I'd post about a kid in the elementary school forum until they graduate from elementary school. That's just me. |

GOP thinks 10 year old girls are marriage material....
Project 2025 says the same.... What does that tell you? |
+1. -parent of teen and tweens |
| I don’t think it matters. |
| It really doesn't matter. But for me, in my mind a tween is when you start middle school. |
