| DS says a friend of his was accepted to UNC this week. Does UNC usually inform some OOS applicants early? |
| EA drop for instate before xmas, for OOS its January. |
| oos is by Feb 10 this year according to UNC but maybe they move it up. UNC is all about instate, now more than ever. oos is going to be pretty much full pays going forward for unhooks. |
| Unlikely UNC doesn’t release results for six to eight weeks. |
Nope, not Chapel Hill, which is the only one I'd call "UNC." But the smaller schools in the UNC system (UNC Charlotte, UNC Wilmington, etc) may be releasing now. My DD applied to Charlotte a couple of years ago and definitely had an acceptance letter prior to Christmas. |
| We, the parents got a letter, thank you for your kid applying to UNC CH weeks ago (I am an alum) and it just said parents of DC’s name. I did not take this as a likely letter though. Was it an acceptance or how was it described as a likely letter? |
Seems weird. Are they alums? |
We (not alums) got this letter from UNC CH too. I don’t think it was anything more than a nice marketing tool to acknowledge the application. |
| Everyone gets the UNC letter. |
| You think your kids friend is lying? |
| Is the kid an athlete? They have received likely letters |
Yes, I think that's what OP is talking about. The athletic recruits were likely notified so that they don't commit elsewhere. |
| I would be shocked if an OOS student heard before NC students |
They send that letter to all applicants every year. We’ve received for both our kids wh applied and aren’t alums. |
| Questbridge matches were announced this week. We know one kid who got into a T10. It's about 2000 kids across all the colleges, including UNC. |
