For over two decades, I have implored our political elite to take seriously the truly progressive position on immigration: one of extreme skepticism. To no avail,” Karp said. “Unfettered immigration in Europe, where I lived for well over a decade, has been a disaster — depressing wages for the working class and resulting in mass social dislocation. I remain an economic progressive, isolated among self-proclaimed progressives that are anything but.”
Seems Palantir is helping ICE now. Love that CEO says “depressing wages for the working class”. Thoughts? |

Agree 100%.
After this correction has been implemented though, we should return to controlled levels of workforce immigration. Not H1B, but labor, and limit to people whose values align and can integrate successfully (I believe many Hispanics fit this profile). |
| Temporary work visas for manual labor, pathways to citizenship, more administrative judges to handle the asylum load - gee its almost like we have already had this legislation a number of times and the GOP killed it at every turn, even when they wrote it. |
| Thiel is insane, that’s all we need to know. He’s also buddies with Yarvin and Vance. |
| Why do things this way? Rather than paying a private company to help ICE why not hire more immigration judges and allow them to WFH and have virtual hearings. That way you’re actually supporting middle class wages rather than lining the pockets of tech ceos. |
I think that you’ve answered your own question. |
| Alex Karp is a self-serving a$$hole. |

I'm just furious that these losers used the word Palantir, the name of the seeing eye globe in Lord of the Rings. Anyone who would do this, and cheapen this epic saga, is obviously not to be trusted. And of course no one should be helping ICE. Xenophobes are scum. |
He is right. |
+1. It’s a sad state of affairs |

Peter Thiel, cofounder of Palantir, gave JD Vance a VC job he was entirely unqualified to do, then bought JD Vance his Senate seat. He's donated to the Republican party regularly.
Now he gets billions of taxpayer funded contracts and all our data in return. |

There’s nothing wrong with ICE.
They are heroes. |
How you would call that progressive is beyond me, and I'll bet you don't know squat about the working class or social dislocation. I also firmly believe that one of the reasons there are so many undocumented immigrants is because we simply do not have enough legal immigration. --signed, member of the working class |
Just curious - did you vote for Bush #2? He’s the one that instituted the temporary protective status that brought in millions of immigrants from war torn countries bc he was too afraid of public perception of real immigration reform. Also, did you support US involvement in Iraq, Iran, Syria, South America (and sanctions on Venezuela) that led to destabilization and chaos and those countries? If so, do you think it’s ok for us to leave our mess behind? To be clear I think Biden was horrible on immigration but he was just another mainstream politician pushing things down the road. But Trump is just a meanie rounding up college students traveling home for Thanksgiving, fathers of military service members, and construction workers paying social security taxes. We need a leader confident and smart enough to push forward immigration reform on the merits of what is in the best interest of our country. That’s just not Trump. Certainly not Miller! |
