We’re interested in Christian Family Montessori but having trouble finding info about them. Does anyone have any recent experiences there?

Yes, we are currently there and plan on staying. Have you scheduled a visit/tour? What specifically would you like to know?

Just curious what your experience has been! I’m finding very little about the school online. Would you recommend?

We love it! There are so many unique things about the school and community, it’s hard to articulate them all here. The Montessori guides are such keen observers, and they know the children in their classrooms so well. There is a respect for children, their innate curiosity and their agency. It’s a small school and the families are representative of the diversity of families in the DC area. It’s very low tech, even in the upper grades. The older kids plan, shop for, cook, and eat meals together and help the younger kids practice their reading. The school’s values are curiosity, kindness, and community and we really see that in all aspects.

My children are graduates. It's a lovely and nurturing community, and as the PP said it cultivates curiosity and independence.

They aren't really looking to be bigger than they are, or to have more publicity, which may explain the challenges you are having finding information.

Basically, if it works for your family/child, then it's a fantastic option. But it's not the right choice for every kid, and that's fine too.

NP here - we visited the school when our now 11 year old was 3, and liked what we saw. We applied and if I recall correctly, we got offered a spot off of the waitlist. We ended up enrolling in another school, in Brookland due to the logistics of getting there.

Well said--my two children were there and learned some incredible habits that they have carried with them to other private DC schools. Ms. Kristi--Dir of Education--and Ms. Lindy are two longtime, great teachers.

Ultimately, my children needed more structure and did not do well with the math there.
