WFH lunch routine

If you work from home, how long do you take for lunch and what is your routine?

I find just gathering and microwaving food, eating, and then walking for 15 minutes takes almost an hour -- 55 minutes today. It feels too slow so I'm wondering how much others do on their lunch break.

Yeah, I make a sandwhich or microwave leftovers, eat, rub one out, have a nap, and get up for my afternoon calls.

lunch is 30 minutes. i might eat cold leftovers or i might make oatmeal or grits or maybe walk to a coffee shop but it's still only 30 minutes.

no nap, no rubbing one out. jesus.

depends on the day. Somedays I'm lucky if I have time to go to the bathroom during the day. Lunch is whatever I can grab and bring into the next meeting.

Other days (like today), I met a friend for lunch and we chatted for 2 hrs.

Depends on the day. I usually eat leftovers, but sometimes will run an errand or exercise and then just eat later while working.

I aadly rarely WFH anymore but I used to like to get a really early start to give me more flexibilty with my time at lunch and in the afternoon.

DH WFH every day. He is not " on the clock" but is very focused and driven. He goes down to the kitchen, makes his turkey and cheese on whole wheat sandwich, microwaves it, eats it and is back upstairs in 15 minutes.
Sometimes he has cheese and crackers. There's no "finding food" he has his supply and knows where it is.

OP, you can pack your lunch for WFH just like you can for the office. Spending 45 minutes to "gather food" and eat it is pretty slow.

I try to break for lunch if I possibly can. I let the dog out, make a sandwich, read a novel while eating, and go back to my desk. I already walked in the morning before starting work.

It takes an hour, but I usually wait for my kids to come home and we heat and have lunch together. If they get home late, and I am having lunch on my own, it’s usually about 1/2 hour total, but I usually have something that I just reheat.

I get an hour. I usually either nap for that hour, then make/eat lunch or run errands and then come home for lunch.

Maybe I'm a little slow but am failing to understand what your issue is.

I put something together between calls and eat it between calls.

Who takes an hour for lunch unless you're an hourly employee and it is required?

I see people on here talking about layoffs and not getting "that promotion" and they don't understand why. I also see people complaining when companies RTO- once the data that you're offline in the middle of the day for 2 hours is put into the system and more people do it, then people get called back in or you become redundant.

I have my lunch packed just like when I go to the office and never take more than 30 minutes: 10-15 minutes to eat and then a walk.

This is OP. I do work hourly part time for the number of hours I want to take on. Lunch break not required. I've started formalizing the lunch break as a way to be more healthy and balanced, which is why I work PT in the first place.

As far as the issue I'm trying to solve that another poster asked about, it's figuring a good balance is for length of lunch and what I spend the time on.

Also whether people are FT or part time it's not the culture of my job for everyone to be glued to their desks. I am responsive when necessary.

I usually eat a salad kit or reheat leftovers. Sometimes I'll roast some chickpeas or put some chicken strips in the air fryer but that only takes 10 minutes and I set a timer for it.

I'll row for a bit sometimes but only for 15-20 minutes and not as part of lunch.

What are you making for lunch? Are you taking a long walk?

If you want a long lunch the answer is to start working earlier and/or keep working later.
