Needing recommendations for devices a ten year old would use at a sleep away camp that doesn't allow cell phones (we don't have one for her, anyway) or any other wifi enabled device/screen.
-- camera (do kids even bring cameras anymore?) -- music player (she has a very old school portable CD player and headphones but hoping for something to play digital music) Any other tips? TY! |

When I was a kid at sleeaway all devices were banned… no cd players or he’ll tape players back in the day.
I don’t think my kid’s sleepaway would allow those either though she did take a digital camera (my old one from college) last year |

Ours would not allow a music player but if yours does, it's easy enough to find an mp3 player on Amazon. You load it from your laptop.
Kids do take digital cameras but I send mine with the old disposable cameras. |
| Camp Snap digital camera |
| I don’t think any of those would be allowed. Cameras are ok though. Either disposable or a Fuji instamix |
| DS brought his GoPro. That was it. |
| My kids brought disposable cameras to sleepaway camp. |
| No electronics -a blissful break from them. Don't worry, camp will keep them busy with no screens |
| My DD brought a campfire player and that seems to be fairly common. You load it with songs or books at home on WiFi and can listen offline while at camp. It’s basically like an iPod touch. I think it was really helpful during rest time to kind of zone out. Sharing a bunk with so many other kids is a big adjustment and being able to put on headphones and listen to music can help a lot. |

Disposable cameras will be fine.
The Hifi Walker H2 is a well-reviewed offline MP3 player. https://www.amazon.com/HIFI-WALKER-H2-Resolution-Bluetooth/dp/B072C4YPCG/ It's a little bit annoying to load from your computer, but it works fine. It's held up well for my kid. |
