College and University Discussion
|
According to a recent poll from NBC News, 63% of registered voters agreed that a four-year degree is “not worth the cost because people often graduate without specific job skills and with a large amount of debt to pay off.” That’s up from 47% in 2017 and 40% in 2013. Meanwhile, just 33% agreed with the idea that a degree is “worth the cost because people have a better chance to get a good job and earn more money over their lifetime.” That’s down from 49% in 2017 and 53% in 2013. https://fortune.com/2025/11/30/is-college-worth-it-four-year-degree-cost-graduates-student-debt-ai-skills-unemployment/ |
| About time people woke up to the college scam and money laundering of US tax dollars via student loans. |
|
College education has gone downhill since they became diversity DEI diploma mills and started taking too much in government loans.
Make college tuition Cash Only. Make college merit based only. High SAT and verified IQ of at least 120 to attend. |
A 120 is a 1370 on the SAT. If you want to implement that requirement, then college should be free for the 9% that will have the privilege of attending…considering the US will have to close like 2700 colleges as a result of the requirement. |
| Well, if NBC reported it, it must be true. Right? Hello? |
Is your IQ low? Bc that’s the dumbest thing I’ve read on DCUM in a while. |
| Most of the people who don’t benefit from a four-year degree attended for-profit colleges or really crappy traditional schools. Those people should have prepared for a trade. |
| I want my kids to go to a four year college, but I think the state option ranked around 100 is perfectly fine for the vast majority of careers. I wouldn’t want them to take on debt or us to not prioritize our retirement to spend 90k a year for them to go to a private college in the T50. |
| How many threads about this topic do we have now? |
Okay. and your alternative? |

There’s already a 6-page thread about this:

What do you do at Harvard where you have more high SATs than seats? Also why are private colleges mandated to abide by your stupid admissions system based off of a precalculus exam? |
