| One of the kids for whom we are buying Xmas gifts through a charity is a 4 year old girl. Thoughts on fun gifts for that age? Per the instructions, I need to get 2-3 toys/fun gifts totally around $50-$80 (necessities like clothes and shoes are done separately). |
|
My 4 year old daughter loves baby dolls and other pretend play. Barbies, bead kits, and craft supplies are also popular birthday party gifts for her class.
We bought a kitty stuffy in a purse/pet carrier at Target for a toy to donate. It was $20. |

A squishmallow or care bear
Temporary tattoos Arts and crafts supply set (many on Amazon) A play set like vet supplies, doctor supplies, school, or grocery store Gabbys dollhouse play figures Sticker books 4 year olds also like to have lots of little treasures, so it’s good to walk around Target and grab the smaller, cheaper items that are bright and flashy. |
| Also, not sure if it counts as “clothes,” but princess dress-up outfits are also popular. |
| Melissa and Doug makes a great vet kit that comes with two stuffies. |
| Scooter and helmet |
|
legos/duplo/magnetic tiles
art supplies -markers, crayons, Color wonder simple board games puzzles blocks little people/doll house type toys |
| Bath bombs are popular and so are rainbow loom jewelry kits. You should be able to get good Black Friday deals on this stuff right now. |
|
My 4yo daughter is very easy to buy gifts for! Barbies, Disney princess figurines, Melissa and Doug sets, Melissa and Doug jumbo coloring books (and dot art markers), magnatiles, fancy Nancy/madeline/pinkalicious books and stuffed animals
Target has a line of American girl like dolls called our generation that are nice, and they sell accessories and outfits for them. They also have frozen Barbie dolls that my daughter loves. |
|
Why not a Tonka toy truck or bulldozer, hmmm?
Girls can play with toy trucks too you know, OP. |
Look, my own wardrobe is heavy on black and baseball hats and I dressed my DD4 in unisex or even boys' department clothes for the first two years of her life. None of that stops her from loving pink, tulle, babies, and other stereotypically "girl" things. Sure, she also has a garbage truck and tow truck, but the odds that any random 4 year girl old will love those toys over the dolls and MANY gender neutral toys that have already been suggested, are low. |
Most of the suggested toys so far follow heteronormative stereotypes. And that is not ok. |
|
My four year old daughter's fav toys:
Stuffies. Any stuffies. All stuffies. Someone mentioned the Target $20 stuffy in the little carrier? Yeah, we have that. Melissa and Doug Scissor skills books plus tape. Get a bunch of brightly colored painters tape type tape that won't mess up paint. She's on her THIRD set of like six rolls. Where's Waldo books. She loves these! There's also a Bluey version that's a bit easier. Temporary tattoos (dinosaurs are the most popular in my house) Little People and the Little People Bus. |
My kids were both (boy and girl) past toy trucks by four. Those were much more popular at 2 and 3, IMHO. |
They are heteroNORMative because they are the NORM. When you buy a gift for strangers, you buy for the mean, not the margins. Don't be dense. But also, people have suggested plenty of gender inclusive gifts: art supplies, Melissa & Doug sets, legos/duplos, magnatiles. The only person fixating on gender is you. |
