My EXACT question (although I never asked) - eager to see responses!

If I thought my husband would come on here to ask, I would swear that the OP is him! We are currently looking at houses and the Woodson distrcit is our main concentration...and a neighborhood without sidewalks is a deal breaker!

What elementary school are you looking for?

Long Branch and Willow Woods areas have sidewalks.

I think that Canterbury Woods has sidewalks.

Sorry I can't help you OP, but this is interesting to me. We are househunting too and never thought of sidewalks one way or the other. Why is it so important? I guess safety?

Sidewalks were important to me- safer for the kids walking to the bus stop or a friend's house, or learning to bike. I think they also foster community, we see our neighbors all the time out on walks or walking their dogs.

I think most of the neighborhoods off of Braddock have sidewalks? Others to look at- Old Creek, Olde Forge, Surrey Square

We live on Stark Road between Little River and Guinea. I'm closet to Canturburry Woods but we go to Wakefield - and there are sidewalks all over the neighborhood. Very few streets do not have sidewalks, and those streets are not heavily trafficked with anything other than the cars that live on the streets and kids on bikes.

Have you checked out Mantua? Can't remember about sidewalks, but it's a great neighborhood, so worth confirming.

OP here. Thanks PPs. I'll look into these. I've looked into Mantua Hills, and it's sidewalkless. Long Branch an Willow Woods don't feed into Woodson.

I think sidewalks are SO important. We bought a house last year and only looked in neighborhoods with sidewalks. I'm just more comfortable having my kid learn to ride a bike/scooter on a sidewalk. And, I like knowing she can walk down the street to a friend's house safer. Plus, I always liked to walk with DD in a stroller and I feel safer on the sidewalk.

Somerset and Olde Creek both do.

I think anything on the NOVA side of Wakefield Chapel feeds into Annadale HS.

Look at Truro too - right off of Guinea Road (Elizabeth Lane)

I never realized how great sidewalks were until I had my daughter. We walk almost nightly to nearby stores or parks and I'd hate to have to walk in the street. Before I had a kid, I never walked in my neighborhood, and before I bought my house, I'd always lived in DC or close-in Arlington 'hoods with sidewalks. I'm starting to house-hunt and a couple of the places I'm looking don't have sidewalks, which is a disappointment!

I think there are a few streets off of Woodburn, East of Prosperity and South of 50, that have sidewalks. they feed into Camelot and Woodson. But Woodburn and Prosperity don't have sidewalks. (both streets are 2-lane and very narrow with big ditches so you wouldn't want to walk them, plus Prosperity traffic is very heavy during rush hour.)
