Infertility Support and Discussion

All,
Looking for some advice here - I have contacted my doctor and am waiting to hear back, but am leaving on Thursday for California. I have been asked by my sister-in-law to get the Tdap vaccine (which includes pertussis as California is experiencing an epidemic-level of whooping cough cases right now) before I spend time around her week-old baby. Her doctor asked that anyone around the baby get it. I am reading conflicting things online about whether or not I should get this vaccine as a booster (since I had it when I was a kid) if I am trying to conceive. The California Department of Public Health - Immunizations says it is fine for women trying to conceive (http://www.cdph.ca.gov/Pages/PH10-048.aspx) but then I read other websites that suggest not (http://www.marchofdimes.com/printableArticles/159_16189.asp). Has anyone ever asked this question of their doctor? If so, what did they say? Thanks. |
| It's safe and you are better off getting the vaccine than risking exposure to the virus without live immunity. |
