People who try to create a second line

Anonymous
You know when there’s one line that’s feeding into multiple agents and someone comes and tries to create a second line and jump ahead of people that have been waiting.

I find it to be SO annoying and unacceptable. Anyone else feel this way? Weirdly wildly triggering for me

Not the kind of second line I was thinking of, but carry on.

Oh I will yell at people who do this. I don't care if people think I'm crazy (usually the people in line will thank me for saying something). It's so antisocial. People only do this when the line is very long too.

Once I yelled at a man for doing this when I was 9 months pregnant and he argued with me for like 5 minutes and said actually, it was the right way to do things, and I totally dressed him down and people applauded. This was in a fast casual restaurant during lunch time and I was hungry and cranky and had been waiting in line for 20 minutes. Do not eff with me.

I also call people out for doing this.

Op - I just called a man out for doing this (same man had just conducted loudest call have ever heard on speakerphone at a crowded airport gate).

Terrible behavior. I appreciate the cashiers who call them out so we don’t have to.

I was hoping that this would be about people starting a Second Line, New Orleans style and was wondering what kind of sourbag would object to that?

But, yes, what you're talking about is rude but I don't let it bother me.

The cashier should be in charge and not allow this to happen but they're not paid enough to deal with crazy.

I’ve noticed it’s unusually foreigners who try to pull this.

I say “it’s fine you can get in front of me I’m in no hurry to get home and have my family annoy me”.

I used to do this in college at the Kroger self checkout. There were 2 checkouts, everyone would form one line, I’d just hop in front of the second one.

People would yell like the PPs. I didn’t care. Didn’t try to argue with them. Just put on a ditzy blonde act and say “oh there’s usually two lines!” Yelling seems so unhinged. Applauding? I’ll take things that never happened for $500, Alex.

No idea why I did it. I think it was just fun.

When I taught English in China, there was no concept of a line. Everyone just crowded around to get to the front.

While reading your story, I was going to comment "and everybody stood up and clapped" but you stole my thunder! Well done.
