Tofu consumption rate

Tofu eaters, how much tofu do you eat per week, per person in a normal week? 1lb? 3lbs?

Not a ton. I usually make one meal with it every week, so one package split between the two people in my home who eat it.

We eat a fair amount of tofu.

We're a family of 8 with 3 teen boys, and 2 vegetarians, and if I'm serving tofu as the primary source of protein for a meal, then I often make 6 boxes. We eat about half, and then we have half in the fridge for them to make lunches etc . . . If I'm making something like scrambled tofu that doesn't keep as well, then I'll make 3 boxes, or less if not everyone's eating it.

I also make things like tofu croutons for a salad, or a silken tofu pasta sauce, or tofu "french fries" as a side, to add protein to meals that also include meat, or alternate proteins. Then I'll use less.

Do you clean out the whole shed when you go shopping? Or Costco?

I have a teen vegetarian boy and he will generally eat a whole box (14 oz) when I make it, which is every 2-3 days. The rest of the family eats meat, so we have some too, but it's mostly him.

Also, tofu is an insanely cheap source of protein, as well as being healthy and far better for the environment than meat, as well as not killing animals (and I say that as a meat eater). It's $1.35 at Aldi and maybe $2 at regular grocery stores.

Yes, we pretty much do. Aldi's or Costco.

I'm the one cleaning out Aldi's and Costco. What are other people's favorite tofu recipes? I'm always looking for easy ways to serve this cheap protein!

Family of 4, 9 & 11 year olds. Usually 2lb/ meal.

Family of four here and probably one or two packages of extra firm tofu a week, tops. We aren't vegetarian, tofu stir fry is just part of our normal meal rotation.
