Would it be better to fly from Dulles to Paris at 6:30 PM or 10:40 PM? Which would give the least jet lag. Will be flying economy plus. I’m thinking I’d sleep more on the 10:40 flight.
Thank you. |
| The later flight. |
| Later flight. No choice. |

Yes later flight is better- not just because you are more likely to fall asleep faster. Also much better to arrive at 5 AM body time than 1 AM body time.
Also much less time staggering around in the city until you can check in to your hotel. With that later flight you get into the city around noon or 1 PM, can often check in then or go get lunch and come back and check in. |

For me, definitely the later flight.
Think about what time it is going to be for you (not the destination) when the plane lands. Do you want to be standing in the immigration line and then trying to find a cab or whatever at 2am your time or 6am your time? |
| Always the later flight. Also, if you are staying at a hotel or a rental, your arrival are will be closer to the check-in time. |
| 10 pm is a nice flight time |
| ALWAYS the later flight for a red eye. No contest unless you’re someone who typically is asleep by 730pm |
| I try to take the later flight unless I've booked the hotel or airbnb for the night before - so either late flight, arrive later in the morning and then some initial sightseeing to adjust to the time zone before crashing around 8 or 9 pm vs early flight, arrive early at the hotel - sleep for three hours or so until mid-day and then do some initial sightseeing and go to bed at a more normal time. |
Exactly this. Easier to get more sleep on the later flight, so better for jet lag too. |
| We're opting for the earlier flight for a trip to Spain, knowing that sleep will be basically non existent on either flight. But we're booking a room at the airport hotel so we can go straight to bed when we land, and check out of that hotel at noon having gotten 4-5 hours of higher quality sleep in an actual bed before hitting the ground running. |
That’s a great way to prolong jet lag. |
| Later flight |
| It’s such a ridiculously short flight that if you have any hope of sleeping, take the 10 pm flight. Then land and stay up until 10 pm in France. |
