Having a cycle monitored at Dominion Fertility

Anonymous
I had a miscarriage a few months ago and started charting afterwards (never had done so in the past, got pg my first month trying with #1). I felt that my LP might be too short and went to see Dr. Andrea Reh at Dominion because I'm a crazy Type-A, let's-fix-the-problem kind of person.

She basically said everything looks fine and just to give it more time. She then called me half an hour later and said she wanted to offer to monitor a cycle there if I wanted to -- I guess this would entail several blood tests and/or ultrasounds once my period starts?

Can anyone tell me if they've done this, what it entails exactly, and would you recommend I do this?

PP I did an unmedicated monitored cycle at Dominion a few years ago with Dr. Gordon, basically it helped diagnose my problem which was a luteal phase defect. The treatment is easy, took progesterone after ovulation.

When they monitor your cycle, you go in during the hours of 7 am - 9 am (they will tell you what days - some every other, some daily) for bloodwork and a sonogram. usually you're in and out pretty quickly. in the afternoon they will call you with the results and tell you what the next step is (to come in the next day, or whatever). the nurses are great & the front desk is awesome, too. not to mention drs. reh, dimattina, gordon are outstanding!

Thanks. how much does it cost?

I would think in my case, with my insurance I would just go in for bloodwork and I don't have a copay for that. then it's $35 copay for me for ultrasounds. that's it.

One more question -- what's the first day I would go in? I think I'll do this if I don't get a BFP this month, but I want to make sure I know what the first day is I would need to go in for any kind of testing/monitoring.

Thanks!

Call the day of your period to let them know you want to start monitoring. They'll need to do some prep to get the paperwork together, and then they'll tell you when to come in -- likely Day 3, I think. Good luck!

It's usually day two or three of your cycle.

I always went in on day 2.

Okay, how many times do you have to go back after baseline, the traffic is a killer at that time of the morning?

Depending on when you ovulate, but I'd say 3-4 times.

"Okay, how many times do you have to go back after baseline, the traffic is a killer at that time of the morning?"

I used to go in around 7:15, would get out by 7:45, and the traffic wasn't too bad getting into the city - some backups, but I could get to Farragut by 8:00 easy.
