Mine college freshman does not but has a few items on her Christmas list this year (and most years).
This got me thinking about whether or girls actually wear it. Does your college (or late high school) aged girl wear any make-up out? (not for exercising but for the rest of life) If so, what types of things does she wear on a regular basis? No judgment here at all--I think it's great either way and I have worn some myself since I was quite young. |
| Ack. I apologize for all the typos in my post and hope it's still clear. |
| Yes, cc cream, mascara and eyebrow pencil. |

I don’t think so unless you count nail polish. She has a lot of 8 am classes and with getting up and biking across campus I just don’t think she’s willing to take another 10 minutes to put on makeup.
I’d also guess this answer varies widely by where you go to school and what your major is. If you’re in lab every morning at 8 am, that’s a disincentive. My relative has a kid at UVA and based on her posts, I think makeup is much more common there. I’d guess the further south you go, the more makeup you are seeing, but I’m sure that’s not universal. |
| It’s nice to have makeup on hand even if you don’t use it everyday. It can be for special occasions. My 7th grader has mascara, lip gloss and blush. |
| No make up for my 19 year old |
| One does, the other does not. It really depends. |
| None, but a lot of her friends wear makeup. I have noticed they will even wear a full face of makeup even though while they are wearing super casual sweats out for coffee. I'm sure they're expensive sweats, though. |
| Mine is 18 and only uses light make up for parties or special occasions. None of that weird anime big-eye type stuff, just subtle. |
This describes my daughter. A full face of makeup in sweats. Yes, her sweats are very expensive. I do not wear any makeup. I did when I was her age and even through my 30s. I stopped in my early 40s completely. |
| Yes |
| Both my girls (15 & 17) only wear very light makeup on rare occasions. |
| mine wears light makeup daily, mascara, cream blush, sometimes a little eyebrow pencil, about the same amount I wear. No foundation, contouring, heavy eye makeup etc. |

I teach at a college. 8:30 am classes! I would say that on the most stressful weeks, almost no one has make-up on. On those weeks, its all just messy buns, sweats, and the rolled out of bed, was studying till 2:00 am look. Their only goal is to get coffee.
On the less stressful weeks, maybe 10-15% of the girls have make-up on for 8:30 classes |
| No makeup for 20 year old DD. She will wear light makeup if she is going to a concert. Otherwise no. |
