Infertility Support and Discussion

I've been temping and charting for 3 months now, and I seem to have a weird pattern -- I seem to ovulate the same day I get my first positive OPK. And I take several OPKs a day so I know it's not that I'm only catching the tail end of the surge.
Is it possible that either I metabolize LH really slowly into my urine, or that once my LH surges I immediately ovulate? I'm not being treated by an RE but thought I'd see if anyone else has this issue and what, if anything, it means. |
| OP, what are you calling a positive OPK? Are you looking for any line? I think a + should only be a line that is as dark as, or darker than, the test line. |
| I definitely mean a REAL positive. I seem to have a day of almost-positives and then a true positive either the same day I ovulate or the day after (the day of my temperature rise). |

I think that some people are fast-risers and some are slow-risers (I am a slow-riser). I got fed up with OPKs and went straight to the Clearblue Fertility Monitor-- expensive, but gives you some peace of mind. There is also a phone number you can call and ask all kinds of questions to people who really know about these things.
Even with CBEFM though, there is always room for ambiguity (same with temping). When you at least know your low, high and peak days, you will know when o. is close and can plan to BD a few times, as sperm can live for a few days. |
| I'd get DH going in a 2-day cycle. So, you should have sex the day of the strong positive, but also two days before and after (ex: + on Wed., so sex MWF). |
