Agree. Every parent should run a routine check on their child's credit every year. I've heard horror stories of families trying to undo years of damage to their child's credit. Children's identities are especially coveted by criminals because normally no one checks their credit until they're eighteen. I also never give my child's social security number. Lots of organizations ask for it, but it isn't necessary. When day care, school, doctor's office, etc. ask for it, I leave it blank. I figure if they really need it, they'll ask for it and make their argument. I've never been asked. I've even stopped giving my SS# on routine forms.
