Where to buy loaf of crusty bread near Ballston

What bakeries or shops sell a good loaf of sourdough or rustic bread in Arlington or FCC? Closer to Ballston the better.

Do you have a safeway near you?

Their sourdough baguettes are some of the best I have ever had. They are better than most bakeries.

If baguette will do, try Arrowine on Langston Blvd. Get there early because they sell out.

Isn’t there a Great Harvest in Arlington or near Shirlington, at least?

Just buy a baguette and then make it crusty this way:

Dampen the baguette with water and wrap in foil; bake at 300* for about 5 minutes. Voilà! Crusty bread!

Sorry. Correction:

Dampen the baguette with water and wrap in foil. Bake at 300* for 15-20 minutes; unwrap and continue baking for another 5 minutes. Voilà! Crusty.

+1000 Safeway bakery is amazing. Even their bagels are better than and bagel shops around here. Cookies are fresh, fresh bread all of it.
