| DS has been using Varsity Tutors 1-on-1 option extensively. He tried to use it last night for test preparation only to find out it was not available and replaced by AI chat bot, which, in our opinion, is not as good as a "live" person. Has FCPS cancelled the 1-on-1 tutoring? I e-mailed the county, waiting for their response. |
| Please let us know. We’re interested as well |
| Anyone? we are frustrated to only have AI chat. |
Varsity Tutors probably pushes the AI option. It's less costly for them. FCPS still advertises the 1:1 option, but maybe VT pushed AI option. |
Did they use their max weekly hours? |
He hasn’t used it in two weeks. So no. We ended up using Schoolhouse. |
| There's a max five hours per student per week for the live 1-1 tutoring. After that, the live tutoring switches to chat. You may need to wait for the hours to reset in a few days. |
It’s been two weeks since he used it. |

I got an answer from Varsity Tutors:
What’s Changing Based on your current partnership package, access to the Human Chat Tutoring feature availability has expired for Fairfax County Public Schools students. This adjustment reflects the services included in your district’s agreement with us. What Remains Available Fairfax County students will continue to have full access to our AI Chat Tutoring feature, which provides personalized, on-demand academic support across subjects 24/7. This tool has proven to be a valuable resource for students seeking immediate homework help and concept reinforcement. Looking Ahead We understand that Human Chat Tutoring has been valuable to your learning community. Should your district wish to explore adding this feature back in the future, we welcome the opportunity to discuss expanded service options that would include live tutor support. |
