I'm having the NT ultrascreen test next week (Reiter and Hill, downtown) and I wanted to ask a question. Is it a 2-D or one of those sophisticated 3-D ultrasounds that they do? And is there any chance at all that they will be able to get a good guess on the gender of the baby?
Thanks! |
I am assuming you are doing the 11 week screening? If so, no you won't find out and don't believe if someone tells you because I was told by the sono person that it looked like a boy and found out later that baby was a girl. I think it's closer to 16 or 17 weeks that you will know unless you do CVS and then you will know earlier.
Good luck! |
Our NT ultrascreen was a 2D ultrasound and a blood test. We didn't want to find out the sex anyway, but from what I understand, it's too early for them to tell on the NT anyway.
You can definitely find out the sex with the CVS (like the pp said) or wait until your 20 week ultrasoundl. |
I had a 10 wk u/s, before the NT/CVS, only to make sure we still had a heartbeat before the CVS (previous m/c and we were driving to Phili from DC for the CVS). The u/s was done at Washington Radiology-the Dr. who did the sono blurted out "I think you're having a boy"-she said she only saw this view 1 out of every 400 u/s. Thank goodness I wanted to know the sex, although even though she had her suspicions, a 10 wk u/s is early. We found out through the CVS that indeed, we were having a boy! But it's really too early to tell, unless I guess you get that special u/s! |
It's a 2-D and usually much too early to find the gender. |
