My DH is 50 and has lower extremity edema, shortness of breath, chest pain, is hypertensive, and has peripheral artery disease. He has diabetes and now his RBCs are 3.05 and his hct is low.
What would be causing his RBCs and hct to be low? Thanks for your help. |

Chest pain and shortness of breath warrants ER visit. Is the PCP aware of these symptoms.
Low hct and rbc could be different things— PCP will help with this. |
| The lower extremity edema, shortness of breath, chest pain sound concerning. I agree with the PP about an ER visit on those specifically. My concern would be a clot. |
| Have him go to the ER immediately. He might be very anemic and need iron infusions or blood transfusions. Then they should try to figure out what is causing the low RBCs. Does he have GI bleeding or hemorrhoids? |
