MCPS Staff Climate Survey

Anonymous
Parents, please demand more from your BOE when it comes to the staff surveys MCPs creates. None of the questions on the survey ask staff about out of control student behaviors and the effect it has on a class full of kids wanting to learn. There is also nothing asking about the ridiculous workload that’s piling on to teachers’ plates with the new CKLA curriculum and Synergy MTSS plans. While I find that the CKLA topics are more interesting to students, the lack of student and teacher friendly materials is inexcusable. We went from our students taking online Benchmark assessments that self-scored everything but the written response to having to give a 17 page paper test and then convert the points over into the Performance Matters site. This year they put some parts of the test online but the items are so poor that we’re assessing whether a student can navigate the highlighter tool more than the actual grade level standard.
We used to be such a great system but I feel like we keep moving backwards.

I am glad to hear some teacher feedback on CKLA. I wondered whether it was actually going to provide something that teachers can readily use. The testing problems are alarming.

Why isn't Taylor paying attention to these matters? What is Niki Porter doing? She seems unequal to her job.

Another reminder to complete the survey was sent out

There are some inside CO bashers on here. One day it's Moran, another day it's Porter, or Cram...
Why?

Like many recent leaders he is a narcissist who only cares about implementing shiny new things he can brag about and DGAF what it means for teachers or students.

As a Teacher, you need to speak out and advocate for your needs and stop putting it on parents. There is NOTHING parents can do about any of this. The county council can hold them accountable and don't. The BOE and central office do what ever they want without regard.

Maybe because an anonymous site is a safe place to vent. Human nature, I guess.

Or maybe they all suck as evidenced by the dump that they oversee and their gaslighting by telling us they don’t?

I would not let any of them watch my children. Would you?

MCPS surveys exist mainly to promote MCPS. Not identify problems.

I hate completing them. They rarely represent teacher concerns.

OP - I agree. As a teacher, very few questions address my real concerns. And then after we get the data and put it on the website for all to see, what’s the follow up?

I want them to make an anonymous survey for teachers to fill out about APs at their school. They don’t seem to collect data about their competence at all.

As a parent, I have a lot to say about the AP my child is assigned to. They need to be terminated. They are racist and refuse help for serious concerns.

Parent here and this is my experience for parent surveys too.

Am I crazy or did they get rid of the questions this year asking about our thoughts on MCPS overall? The only questions I got were about my individual work site. Which isn't the problem. I like my admin and colleagues just fine, or I'd transfer. It's the BS raining on us from above that's 95% of the problem.

Same at my child’s high school. It’s pretty outrageous.
