Impact of Paramount 3 & Metro National on other clubs?

Paramount said they were fielding a 3s team for u14 and u15 and Metro added their new National level in a few age groups.

Any insights on how that went? Don’t see 3rd teams listed on paramount site. Did the new Metro team help pull more players from MDJRs or elsewhere?

What was the impact on other typical top 10 teams this year?

Another post mentioned. VAJRS key player moved to another club but different one said other players moved into VAJRS.

DCUM posts sound as if the bigger drama was further down the usual rankings list.

With the exception of their 17 National team (which Metro seemed to have trouble filling), it appears that Metro's 15 National and 16 National teams completely decimated MDJRS in those age groups, seemingly transplanting whole teams. So, those teams should be solid. This is somewhat similar to what Paramount has done to some of the other Northern Virginia clubs by forming 2 teams in an age group. It seems like both Paramount and Metro have formed very strong second teams in the 15s and 16s age group, and that Paramount has also formed strong second teams in the 13s and 14s age group (Metro is only doing their National team experiment in the U15-U17 age groups this season).

What is quickly becoming apparent is that Paramount and Metro are monopolizing volleyball in the CHRVA Region. By and large, it would not at all surprise me if Paramount and Metro finish some combination of 1st-4th at CHRVA Bid Regionals in several age groups (and I see this becoming pretty standard going forward). VAJRS always has one solid team or two, but their quality from top to bottom has diminished greatly, and their 17s team is really the only strong team they have left. Every other age group is lacking, even compared to Metro's National teams and Paramount's 2nd teams.

I think this is the right read. Note that Paramount added a 17 2 team this year, too.

Observationally there seemed to be more clubs doing a second round of last chance tryouts this year, at least to me. Or maybe I didn’t notice last year for some reason? Seeing those made me think the talent was more concentrated than even before.

I heard Paramount did not meaningfully pursue 3-level teams this year as in they didn’t try to make offers or form those teams but it sounds like a future direction thing to watch.

Move the bid regionals to a later date so that the Metro and Paramount teams that have received bids won’t be in it, to give other clubs a chance

The dates don’t really matter though because if they get a bid elsewhere, it flows back into the region. So the next highest finishing team at bid regionals would get the bid.

It can matter somewhat. If a good but not top team ends up in a pool with a Metro Travel or Paramount 1s team, they might not make it into the top bracket at bid regionals and end with a lower finish than they might have otherwise
