| Can you stop recommending restaurant jobs to every unemployed person? |
| They want you to serve them. It’s not about you, it’s about their wants. |
| I think people recommend them because it seems like restaurants have a high turnover rate. Many people can't last more than 6 months working in a restaurant. The restaurant industry is a different beast. |
| It seems like despite so many people out of job, I still see "we're hiring" signs at restaurants. |
I think it’s just the fastest and easiest way to turn the money spigot back on. |
Some places have “we’re hiring” signs, but they’re not actually hiring. It’s to make customers less upset about slow service. |
| It's taken my young adult son six months to get a restaurant job, and he has experience. Most places are not hiring, let alone some middle aged laid off federal worker. |
The person who keeps posting this suggestion, if I understand correctly, IS a restaurant worker. Other telltale signs of this poster: 1. A comment about how multiple bosses keep asking them to come back to work 2. Outlandish claims about their investing prowess (e.g., they made massive amounts of money off of a minimum wage restaurant salary and are now retired). 3. Similar ridiculous claims about their children’s employability and investing prowess (“my son got 25 restaurant offers without even applying, but he’s also so good at investing that he will be able to retire at 30”) I can’t tell if they are trolling or just a weirdo. |
| restaurants don't need the help. many of them are closing due to policies of the Trump administration have put in place that has made eating out a luxury many Americans can no longer afford. |
Many restaurants have closed monthly for decades, especially new ones. Welcome to the realities of the industry. |
Agreed, this is not a Trump specific phenomenon. Can we keep the political talk in here to a minimum? |
| Not exactly the same, but I’m not going to give money to a pan handler that is standing in front of Chipotle that has a now hiring sign. |
Can't. Service at restaurant sucks nowadays. We need more people applying and sticking to these jobs. |
That's disheartening. I've always thought that if I lost my professional job, and knowing that it takes months to get a new one even in a good economy, I could at least dust off my 20+ year old waitressing skills... |
Well that smells like an easy age discrimination lawsuit. |
