Anyone use this firm for college counseling? Also talked to Collegewise but Abigail Hillman seems to have more ala Carte options. Any feedback would be great.
My daughter is super anxious and she’s my oldest. Her dad died 6 months ago so I’ll be navigating this alone while I work full time. |
| We've used them for SAT prep and AP class tutoring. They were recommended to me AFTER my daughter had already started talking to a different college counselor. So we've only used them for tutoring, but I did find everyone we interacted with at Abigail Hillman to be top notch. They documented the progress of each meeting, copying me so that I didn't have to do any followup. We have friends that have been very pleased thus far using them for college counseling. |
| OP, do you want more recommendations for by-the/ hour, not $$ plan, counselors? |
| Nice ad. |
So true |
This is OP. I truly am looking for recs. If I’m gonna spend a lot of money I want to be sure I’m doing research. If you know any others that have a good reputation, I’m open to it. |
Wtf? You people are terrible. You really think I’d make up that my child’s father died? FFS you’re jaded…get help. |
Thank you for your response. I appreciate it |
ok, move on Abi |
| I am so sorry for your loss |

It does read like an ad. Never heard of her but her but her Instagram with 214 followers lists the schools who have admitted her clients. If you see that list and then think your kid likes those schools AND needs help getting into them, then go for it. She says she prioritizes fit over highly selective schools. Does your kid, OP?

| College Counselor here. I would ask what professional organization(s) your consultant belongs to before hiring. IECA, HECA? |
OP is Abi |
| Is she local? |
No, I’m not, broken record. Are you a competitor or something? Bitter ex? It’s a bad look. Get a grip. I don’t post often and I’m sorry if it reads like an ad. Right now my daughter has no clue where she wants to go. I want her to consider fit first but she’s been exposed to the SEC schools on social media and wants to go to USC/Clemson or somewhere similar. Im hoping once we start looking and she talks to a counselor she will consider something other than sorority life as a factor. My daughter probably doesn’t need “help” getting in as much as we need help navigating the process and narrowing school choices. I don’t want to pay what the firms are quoting -$8500 but I’m afraid I can’t do this alone. If anyone has any places that are less expensive and offer more options I’d love to hear about them. |
