Softball: Looking for 13u or 14u C or rec plus team close to DC

Looking for a team close to NW DC. Looking for a team where the parents and coaches are focused more on development than winning. So far, I’ve found the softball parent culture off putting.

There are so many, but location matters a lot. Can you be more specific?

Little League has a team that practices at Forest Hills.

Try CHLL

Not sure what you mean by softball culture being off-putting. Especially in rec, we found softball parents to be among the nicest compared to the other sports. But that’s going to be team-specific.

I don’t think Cap Hill LL has a rec plus division. Many of the VA leagues do, not sure about MD. And even then you have to play their rec league, then try out for rec plus. DD plays on a team (in VA) with a girl who drives from DC but it’s a haul if you’re worried about logistics since we practice 2x a week year round. I think there are a few C teams in MD near you but again, check the USSSA team list for what’s nearby and then reach out to the coaches to see if they’re looking for players (which many aren’t on the winter).

My guess is they mean it is more "redneck" (white and black) than some other sports they are used to. There is a large population of country type people at tournaments but they are, by and large, nice. As you probably know, a lot of people in this area view country people as "lesser."

We’re looking for something more competitive than little league for my 8th grader. We live near Lafayette, so we’re looking for something in MoCo.
