reading a lot of mixed reviews
can anyone speak to their experience? |
We visited a LOT (incl overnights and going to classes) as my DD was being recruited and we loved it. Small. Cute campus. Lots of options for majors and chance for out-of-classroom learning. Close to Philly. Gives good merit aid. It's sport heavy and PA heavy student body (not good or bad, this just is). All the kids we me or know who are there now love it. |
Do you think a non-athletic, non-sporty girl should avoid it? It’s been recommended to DD (junior) and we haven’t visited yet, but her ECs are art and theater, no sports at all. |

They upped their acceptance rate to over 90% and enrollment is still droppiing. Only 350 freshman enrolled this fall and over 200 were athletes. That would put only about 75 female non-athletes in the incoming class.

I can’t speak to Ursinus, but you should definitely have Mulenberg on her list. |

An acceptance rate of 91.8% (I just looked it up) is NOT good. |
+1 especially for $83k a year! |
| I know someone who went there through a tuition exchange (parent is faculty at another LAC) so money wasn't the issue. She isn't particularly athletic but likes watching sports. She is smart but not a genius, studious (went to grad school afterwards), and extremely nice and friendly. I think it's the kind of place where a kid could be a big fish in a small pond if they wanted that. |

It is, but nice to have reinforcing recommendations! |
Arizona State University has a 90% acceptance but has some top notch programs. Acceptance rate tells you very little. |
| I know a kid who is a freshman there now and he is unhappy because he claims it’s too remote and the school is so small. Both of these factors are not secrets so not sure what he expected. He has no complaints re anything else. |

How odd, 20:26. I know a freshman who is over the moon about the school.
I had thought it was a small school with strong academics in a cute small town but wondered if students would get bored. It’s not horribly far from Philly but not a suburb. Then I learned the campus is very close to the King of Prussia mall, and apparently that is a frequent destination for many for a break. It’s worth a look. |
Sometimes people don’t know how much they don’t like something until they try it. He probably thought he could handle the small and remote and discovered he hates it. |
