Ivies don't do that well and publics worse in terms of yield.

I'm not sure what you mean? A lot of the top kids are getting multiple acceptances, which obviously affects yield.

I have kid who is probably one of the top 10 kids at one of these schools and he isn’t applying to any T20s. Don’t overthink the idea that everyone automatically wants a highly ranked school above all else.
