| I am wondering what to expect for a DC with strong but not 75%+ stats who applied to schools like Tennessee, Clemson, UF, Wisconsin, Michigan, UNC. |
| Why? |
Hot schools like Tennessee and Clemson might only because the admissions office is getting so many more applications than before. Michigan jumped into the ED ring out of necessity so that will take away a ton of slots and they might need to take things slower on the first round. |
Bc most of these schools are seeing record numbers of applications and it feels like there have been more kids deferred in the last few years. Not sure if app #s and deferrals will even out since this graduating class is so much smaller. |
|
I have been surprised by some of the kids deferred by Wake this fall. Naviance scattergrams suggested admission.
Also this year is barely smaller than last year’s. |
| How would anyone here know the answer to such a broad question? |
| Yes |
| Yes, but there will be fewer applications this year unless kids increase the number of schools where they apply. The population begins to decrease with this class. |
How do you yet know who is deferred this fall? |
| I imagine it's super school dependent but do many kids get outright rejected from EA or ED or is it more deferrals at this stage of the application process? |
| I would think they all want to lock down as many kids as possible in the early rounds this year giving the awful economy and assault on colleges. Never know which one is going to get attacked next. |
| ^ given |
But it also seems they are becoming more and more generous with need based money (possibly to lower the endowment balance). |
Classmates of my kid. |
Adding that I have an older child at Wake so parents seek me out to talk about it, younger kid is a high school senior. |
