| DC is getting emails from schools offering EA and ED deadline extensions - schools that they were "following" on their SCOIR list or that they added and then removed from their Common App list. Is this happening to your students? What's the deal with this? Just trying to up applications for rankings? Are the legitimately interested in my student? Some are even sending codes to apply for free. Thoughts? |

This is common
|
| This happens every year. Most schools will be happy to take your app a few days late. Just not certain big publics. |
| SMU extended!!! |
| I think Columbia extended to Nov 4.....what does that say....YIKES |
| It feels desperate. And, sure, while it's nice to have the option to apply past-deadline, it still feels desperate. |
| What schools are extending? Especially for EA. Please list the schools. |

Duke, UChicago, CMU and WashU are Nov 3 for ED1 (tomorrow)
Columbia extended ED deadline A bunch of schools are Nov 15 for ED1 (Pomona). If you have a later deadline, Pomona has a good webinar this week https://admissions.pomona.edu/register/?id=842ab573-e929-483b-b648-cae22101a044 |
A bunch of lower ranked EA schools aren't until Nov 15: https://blog.collegevine.com/your-complete-list-of-early-action-deadlines-for-every-ea-college |
A bunch of EA schools are in November. Log into your common app account. Example: Boulder isn't until Nov 15. |
| This means they didn’t get enough applications. |
A bunch of SLACs don't have their deadlines for ED until next weekend (Amherst). Whoever is freaking out, maybe post what your kid is looking for? |
| JHU extended to 11/4 for my kid |
| Columbia is not doing well. It's too expensive and going down in the rankings. |
