Volleyball classes/clinics on the weekends?

Anonymous
My DD will be in a club team for the first time this season, and would like to play some extra volleyball on the weekends. Now that fall is over, I'm not seeing any clubs that host classes or clinics on the weekends. Is that just not a thing? At most I see a couple clubs that have open gyms on the weekends. Most clubs I've seen have practices during the weekdays, so what to athletes do (in terms of volleyball) on the weekends, for extra practice? This is our first year of club volleyball, and we live in Virginia.

You will have enough volleyball on your plate once you start the volleyball season. I suggest that - instead of more of the same - you should sign her up for a gym and work on strength and endurance.

Agree. Depending on team, you're going to have 2-4 practices a week. It's plenty. Focus on strength and conditioning if your team does not offer that. Alternatively, look at private lessons to focus on quality training and improvements.

Some clubs do continue to run some clinics on weekends; however, most stop that programming during club season because it's too much to juggle and coaches are busy with teams. By spring and certainly summer, you will see clubs announcing clinics again.
