AP score reporting to t20 schools 4s?

Would you report 4s?

DC did report all scores, including a 4.

Probably yes unless it’s for your child’s intended major and other scores indicate far more talent in that subject…

Most college counselors (private/paid and school counselors) advise to report all 4s and 5s. The exception is Sara Harberson. She says even one 4 can be the basis for rejection at a highly selective school. It is up to you to decide what you think. She worked in admissions pre-covid, so things have likely changed since when she worked at Penn, but who knows? Many counselors are saying their clients are getting into top schools reporting lots of 4s and even a 3 here and there. YMMV

Everything Sara says is bizarre. I would do the opposite of everything she advises honestly. We reported all our fours to top schools and exposed daughter's race on her essays.

How many total AP scores are you reporting and what’s the test score? I think you need to consider the whole package together. If your kid is test optional and is only submitting 4s I think I would pause for T20

I was in AN and while she was helpful in many ways, I think she is wrong about this. Please submit those 4’s and 5’s to top schools.

Agreed. This is just a reflection of the fact that she has been out of the admissions office long enough that some of her advice to be outdated. DC didn’t follow the AP reporting advice, and also listed a competitive entry summer program (essays, grades, recommendations required) on their application even though we paid for the program.

What if all 4s and only one 5 to an ivy?

My kid had one 5, one 3, the rest 4s at application time and reported all but the 3.

If you don't report they know it's a 2.

depends.

are there AP classes on your transcript? then yes, submit them.

if you're in a private school and self-studied on your own --

- Submit all 5s to all schools
- Submit a mix if it's a lopsided mix like five 5s and one 4 to all schools.
- Submit equal mix of 4s and 5s to school ranked 5-20 but not 1-5
- Submit only 4s nowhere.

This is from our counselor. private feeder. a lot of this depends on the context of your HS

Sara's gimmick it's saying ridiculous things so that people think she has some secret knowledge.
