TSA Precheck Number Not Working

Anonymous
I have a known traveler number through my prior federal job? It seems to have stopped working since I left government service. Has this happened to anyone else? Do you have to go through the regular process to get a new number?

Can confirm once you leave the agency (any of them) the know traveler number is no longer valid. Yes you have to apply for new one.

Mine works.

I don't think TSA pre-check is tied to your job. Have you logged into your pre-check account? It should tell you the status. You probably forgot to renew.

I doubt. TSA precheck number through employer (in this case, government) should be different from average citizen's.

Depends on agencies, your agency can get free TSA precheck number(agency pays it) for some employees, agency can also take away from employees. Some people do lost it after taking DRP, some other may still have it (if their agencies do not do anything on TSA precheck, or have not done anything on precheck number yet). If you don't pay for it, you could lost it, technically, agency should disable TSA precheck for former employees.

My agency offers free TSA precheck for those with top secret clearance or higher. My husband has had it for many years. I am with the same agency with only a secret clearance and don't qualify. I imagine my husband will be cut off once he leaves service.

if it is tied to your clearance- once you clearance is put in inactive status, it won't work
