I’ve posted here a lot over the past 9 months of searching for a new job amidst the federal government meltdown. I’m happy to report I was offered a new job today. Is it the best thing in the world? No. It’s a salary cut. But when I thought about what I wanted to do in this moment at the beginning of all this, the new job hits all the marks.
Thanks for letting me vent my frustration and anxiety here through the process and good luck to everyone still in or just entering this mess of a job market. |

| Congrats OP! Nice to see you celebrating. 🎉 |
Honestly it’s all a crapshoot right now. But I will say I was a finalist for another job besides the one I was offered today and never felt great about that search. I knew the one I’m taking was the right one and was so worried the other one would offer first. It didn’t end up that way but having the other search solidified this job for me. Also network really helps. For this one my former boss did outreach directly to the hiring manager who she knew telling her she’d be a fool not to consider me and why I was looking. I think that really helped in the long run. |
| Nice! Congratulations! |

Congrats! Thanks for pointing out the importance of a network. After age 40 or 50, the network becomes more important for securing a job. |
