| Which top Schools provide the most national merit scholarship?. Have chosen USC (Southern Cal) since they are good for Bio and provide 20K merit scholarship. Is this the best to choose? |
| Case Western. A lot more than 20k. |
| What are your stats? |
Does it require ED or EA? |
4.36 Weighted / 1580 SAT / Good Bio related ECs and Good leadership ECs as well |
| Merit scholarships are moving to the wayside along with EBT and subsidized housing. If you can’t afford college they should get a job for several years and save up. Or enroll in community college. |
No. |
$20K off of $96K still leaves you $76K a year out of pocket. There are a lot of schools with good bio departments that are a lot cheaper than that. |
EA for mine. Think 30k/year. Humanities though |
| Awesome, we need more of this kind of information! |
Is this the only school they're applying to, e.g. for early decision? If not, you don't need to identify one best school. |
| What is your state flagship? A lot of amazing bio research occurs at state universities, including UNC, UMass Amherst, Cal, UCLA, UCSD, etc. and it will be cheaper than paying $75k to USC, which is known for business and acting (and not STEM). |
NMF? Full ride at Tulsa Try Reed, Sewanee and Rhodes for at least 50% off. |
|
My NMF was offered $40k per year merit from both Case Western and Northeastern.
Full rides from VCU, U Tulsa, UT Dallas, and Alabama Some merit from USC, Mizzou, Purdue, and Minnesota |
We had about $45k per year at CWRU, Northeastern and Lehigh About $35k at Rochester Fordham was full tuition but they are not strong in sciences |
