Hi all - Looking for inspiration for our annual family trip. Would be 4-7 days. This is between 7 adults and 5 kids who will be ages 2-8. Looking for a fun place within driving distance of DC area and Boston area. Happy to drive longer distances so let's say within a 10 or so-hour drive.
We typically go to Williamsburg and have also done Hershey/Lancaster - looking to mix it up. Potential for the beach but looking for ideas beyond that, especially with activities that would be fun for that kid age range (e.g., kid museums, amusement parks, etc.) Ideas that have been raised are Lake George (have not been since I was a kid though so need to look into it), New Hampshire (e.g., to do Santa's Village, Storyland, etc.) and Philadelphia area (Sesame Place, Please Touch Museum, etc.) Interested in experience with those places or other ideas! We'd plan to get an Airbnb and make most food their so restaurants NBD. No mobility issues. |
| I was going to suggest the Adirondacks. Lake George is definitely a bit more convenient to get to than some of the other lakes, but I would not stay in the town of Lake George itself, especially since you don't need restaurants. It's just way too busy. Bu there's plenty of other real estate all around the lake. |
| Easy - Montreal and Mont Tremblant. Not terribly far and a ton of stuff to do in Mont Tremblant with kids those ages. |
| Maine, Nova Scotia, Toronto |

With kids in that age range, Philly and NH are good choices.
I also love the Adirondacks, but would probably stay further north than Lake George - Saranac Lake, Lake Placid, Long Lake, maybe Old Forge. |
