Don't think I'm ovulating. Anyone else been there?

Anonymous
I have always had very regular periods and pretty clear signs of ovulation... change in CM, ovulation cramps, etc. DH and I started ttc several months ago and since around that time, I've noticed that I no longer get a change in CM like I used to. I have slight cramping but no positive OPKs (I've been using generic brand tests so don't know if these are always the best). Does anyone know why I could all of sudden not be ovulating anymore? My period still comes every 28 days but only lasts 3 days and is pretty light. I got pregnant right away with my first DC 3 years ago and just assumed it would be that easy again. Am finding out how wrong that was! Just when DH and I started ttc, I had a dental procedure done and needed to take a lot of ibuprofen and antibiotics. I thought this might have interfered with ovulation the first few months but now I'm not sure what's going on. Any feedback on similar situations would be much appreciated.

Opks don't work for me. I suggest you try charting to confirm you are indeed not ovulating. Gl!

OPKs are definitely hit or miss. I'd buy Taking Charge of your Fertility to learn to monitor your ovulation signs and I'd start charting as soon as possible. Fertility Friend.com has a great website for tracking your charts. Good luck!

Or if you really think you are not ovulating and want to find out asap, you could go to the doctor (RE or Ob/gyn) and do the basic tests: 3 day blood work, 21 day progesterone, ultrasound. Not that you would have to pursue any form of fertility treatment, it just might give you an answer faster than charting (depending upon your age and urgency to have a child).
