Am freaking out that the purple dye will not be distinguishable from blood. All instructions said not to drink anything with red, purple or blue dye but nothing mentioned the color of the gas-x capsule. Only after I took it, I realized oh sh** this is purple. Called the endoscopy center and the front desk checked with nurse and said its okay but I am still worried that this will mess up my exam.
Anyone been there, done that? How did your colonoscopy go? PSA: check the inactive ingredients before ingesting anything the day before or day of colonoscopy. |
|
The box says : D&C red no 33, FD&C blue 1 for the inactive ingredients.
Colonoscopy is in 3 hours. |
| Call the center and ask. Either they will reassure you, or they will tell you to reschedule. Either way sooner is better. |
They said to come in but I'm worried if there will be stains in the colon |
|
Probably. But it's polyps they seek. Tell the doc before they prep you.
|
| There’s nothing you can do about it now next time just follow the instructions. |
|
Op here with an update - doc removed a polyp. I did inform doc before the procedure and was told that they know difference between stain and blood.
But for anyone else doing this, make sure you read the label before taking anything on the clear diet days. This was unnecessary stress. I hope they mention this too in the prep instructions. I followed everything else to the T and then screwed up on this and panicked. |
| No, you didn't follow the instructions to a T, you injested some random pill. |
You aren't supposed to take *anything* within 3 hours. I bet it gets cancelled. |
| It’s Ok OP. Everyone makes mistakes! Thanks for helping us learn from yours. I’m glad they got the polyp. Hope you can rest easy for a few more years now. |
This is like my kid telling me he got all the problems correct except the ones he didn’t. LOL. No harm done OP. |
| Why on earth did you do that? Sounds like self sabotage *rolls eyes* |
-some insufferable asshat who claims to have never once made a mistake
|
| It’s probably okay. I would worry about it unless you are getting the scope for bleeding issues. And even if they didn’t think you were bleeding they’d look for a source and if they couldn’t find it they would monitor your blood levels and wouldn’t intervene unless you were severely anemic |
|
I’m sure there much less dye in a Gas-X tablet than there is in 8 oz of Gatorade.
I’m glad they were able to perform your colonoscopy successfully. You’ve performed a PSA for others. |
