Transfer request to a closed school

Anonymous
Hi, has anyone had issues with transfer requests for a closed school? I have 3 children in London Towne school, we’ve recently moved out of the school boundaries. My youngest has an IEP and is in a special program requiring he stay there. I have requested they all stay at London Towne due to our child care being there, and I’m still running into big issues. Anyone have any advice? ):

You will not be able to, I'm sorry.

Have you attempted to secure childcare in your new location? You must demonstrate that multiple options in your new boundary are full and you cannot find aftercare there.

Even if you fudge that, you will only have the ability to select a school that is open to transfers. If LT is closed to transfers, you will be unable to submit the request.

Focus on integrating your other children at their new school.

how do you find out which schools are open or closed to transfers?

Childcare is unaffordable for us other than who we have currently. Thank you though!

What is the new school? People can probably help you find affordable options in the new area.

Is the new school perhaps a "beyond the bell" pilot? They should be expanding to have cheap childcare for all who want it.

The new school is Centreville Elementary. They didn’t mention help when I spoke to them. The one willing to watch them after school, is willing to do it for free. We cannot afford childcare at all

I’m sorry, OP. That’s hard. You can probably ride out this year if you say nothing and can transport them yourself for pick up/drop off (and aren’t tardy). That buys you 9 months to make a plan for next year.

Use your babysitter's address.

You don’t seem very bright. OP has already indicated to the school that they’ve moved.

You can't, OP. Can you apply to childcare subsidies? Is there another school nearby that is open to transfers?

Send an email to the region superintendent. I think London Towne is region 4. Send an email with the request to Pablo Resendiz and his AA Jade Horne.

What kinds of drugs are you taking that make you think you know anything? You’re so wrong here that it’s funny. The social workers in the FCPS homeless liaisons office would get a kick out of this post.

Didn't the social workers in the FCPS homeless liason office approve all those dozens of "homeless" Hayfield football transfers living at Planet Fitness?

How cute. Go actually read the federal act and guidance about how to verify it.

Spoiler alert - they tell admins NOT to ask for any proof.
