Offers from Va Elite and Va Juniors

Title says it. Offers for both clubs and not sure why is the best pick. They seem pretty differ t. Elite has older coaches and seems to do good with college recruitment. Juniors has food rankings but less tournaments and some of them don’t sound as good. What do you think DD should do?

They are in very different locations. Does that matter for you? Also compare commute and practice times.

And with that, does VAE tell you practice times with the offer? They still don’t have time listed on the site and DD is trying out for an older age group next week.

Adding, don’t worry about college recruiting at U13 and below. It’s too far away and no guarantee she’s still in the team by then.

If money and distance and travel aren’t a factor then let your DD pick. Congrats on 2 good offers.

They are posted on VAE website under the page for each team age group.

Money, distance is no issue. About the same. Other thoughts?

Last year’s schedules are still listed in the site and it says this years are coming soon.

Which team does your daughter prefer? Does she have more friends on one team? Conversely, is there anyone she doesn't like? Does she gravitate more towards one club's coaches? What is her sense? Where will she grow in a (hopefully) positive environment? These questions matter, particularly in the middle and at the end of a long season. Ask her. If you don't know who has accepted on the team, it's ok to ask.

I think VAE is a much better place to learn the right skills. Their coaching is much more technically based than Jnrs. For younger years, I would do VAE, see how the team goes, there will always be options further down the line. If she ends up being college level, VAE much better in older years - specifically looking at not just where their players get recruited to, but do they ever play. Quite a difference if you probe a bit. Good luck, good choices either way.

Another factor to consider is do you want to travel with DD? I do and DD likes the downtime away from teammates during tournaments which doesn't happen with VAE.

Disagree with PP re: reruiting at VA Jrs. VAE tends to go more D3. VAJRs had strong recruiting with the rising 17's team- a mix of D1 and Ivy.

Both teams stay with parents at U14 and below so this isn’t relevant for these age groups.

Seems like Va juniors is more competitive because they rank better. Does that seem right? I looked at the commitment pages. Va elite seemed to have more d1 players a few years back but not as much now. How do you know if that 17s team is the usual result or randomly good year.
