iPhone- changing country/region for apps

Anonymous
I purchased my iPhone in the US. However we are temporarily living in a different country (in Europe) for a couple years. I have dual eSIMS (my US number and local number), but there are many local apps not available to me. I’m considering switching my country/region for apps to download the apps I need. I have a valid payment method for my current country. I understand that I’d also have to cancel existing subscriptions- I don’t have too many but would want to resubscribe at a later date. Can I switch the country/region and then switch back once I’ve downloaded the apps? I want to make sure I’m not overlooking something. Has anyone done this?? It’s just a pain right now to not be able to use things like a local Lidl app, etc.

DD ran into this while studying abroad- I beleive she just created a new Apple ID for this purpose.
